"Heads of the Colored People" was the spotlight title for 2019's Bloomington Reads programming series which encourages residents to read the chosen title, discuss it with their peers, and attend library programs which focus on themes found in the book. The collection of stories in "Heads of the Colored People" range from darkly humorous to devastatingly poignant and cover a wide variety of life events. Each tale centers on black characters and their experiences. The author, Nafissa Thompson-Spires, also visited the Library for an author presentation, a Q & A session, and book signing experience.
